The AVENSI Coffee Enhancing Glassware by ICOSA Brewhouse is a collection of scientifically designed double-wall coffee cups aimed at improving the sensory experience of drinking coffee. Recognized with the 2021 Best New Product award by the Specialty Coffee Association, these glasses are crafted to enhance the flavor, aroma, and overall enjoyment of coffee through innovative design. Design and Development The AVENSI glassware draws inspiration from wine and spirit glass engineering, applying similar principles to coffee. Developed over several years with more than 80 iterations, the design was refined with input from over 90 coffee professionals across 30 countries. The result is a set of glasses that encourage swirling to aerate the coffee, releasing aromatic compounds and increasing surface area to enrich flavor perception. Material: Made from 100% borosilicate glass, which has low thermal expansion and high resistance to thermal shock. The 2.0mm thick double walls ensure durability and make the glasses suitable for both hot and cold beverages, such as espresso, pour-over, or cold brew. Shape and Functionality: Each glass in the collection (Vida, Senti, Alto, and Wave series) has a distinct shape and curvature, with an ultra-thin rim (60% thinner than standard cups) to guide coffee flow to specific parts of the tongue, highlighting different flavor profiles. Capacity: The glasses hold up to 415ml (recommended pour 170ml),  for precise tasting or smaller servings, accommodating various coffee styles. Wave Series Innovation: The Aeresso Espresso and Alto Wave glasses feature internal ridges called Aeration Waves™, developed with 3x UAE National Coffee Champion Mariam Erin. These ridges create micro-bubbles when the coffee is swirled, enhancing aroma diffusion and balancing flavor. Thermal Regulation: The double-wall structure maintains the temperature of hot or cold coffee while keeping the exterior comfortable to hold, even at 87°C. The glasses are microwave-safe and tested for durability. Alto: With its distinctive wide rim, the ALTO Glass spreads coffee across the top and sides of your tongue, amplifying body and highlighting juicy acidity.
